The Columbia Township Police Department is currently investigating a burglary at Clarklake.
The Columbia Township Police Department is currently investigating a burglary on Grand Boulevard at Clarklake, reported by the resident (who had just returned home) at approximately 8:35 P.M. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. The resident immediately discovered a vehicle missing from the garage, being a 2002 BMW 325ci convertible. At this point in the investigation, nothing except the vehicle has been determined to have been stolen from the residence.
Earlier in the day, Columbia officers assisted a Parole Agent in their attempt to make contact with a parolee at his listed residence on North Lake in Columbia Township. Upon being let into the residence, the “SCRAM” unit (alcohol monitor) that the parolee had been ordered to wear was located lying on a counter. The parolee was gone from the residence after having cut off the SCRAM unit.
Contemporaneous with the burglary investigation, Officer Rodden spoke with witnesses at the home of the parolee, who advised that the parolee had in fact just recently been at the house on North Lake Rd., driving the BMW.
In addition to entering the vehicle as stolen, local broadcasts were put out for the vehicle, describing it and the parolee sought in the crime. At approximately 4:45 A.M., officers in the City of Jackson spotted the vehicle near Jackson St. and Glick, and gave chase. County units picked up the chase near Springport Road and Rives Junction Road, and ended the pursuit near Sandstone and Lincoln roads, with the suspect and vehicle still out.
The parolee being sought is Scott Allen Waters, a white male, 42 years of age. He is currently charged as a Parole Absconder. Other charges are currently pending related to the burglary and car theft.
Attached are the two most current photos of Waters, as well as a picture of a 2002 BMW 325ci, similar to the one stolen in the burglary, and currently still out. The vehicle is described as charcoal in color, with a black convertible top, and when stolen had a Michigan license plate of CBR 8634.
Anyone coming in contact with either Waters, or the stolen vehicle, is asked to contact 911.
