RESIDENTIAL SHED BURGLARIES
Over the past month, officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Western's District, have responded to multiple reports of shed burglaries that have occurred in the Maryland City area of Laurel.
In each case, the suspect(s) are using an unknown tool to cut or pry a lock from the shed in order to gain access. Once inside, the suspect(s) are targeting various items including:
Hand tools, gas powered tools, leaf and snow blowers, and generators.
Many of these incidents appear to be occurring during the overnight hours between midnight and 5:00 am. The burglaries have occurred on the following streets:
Yellow Spring South
Cranberry South
Park Hall South
Ironshire South
Federalsburg South
Dameron South
Old Line South
Marganza South
Spring Gap South
Brock Bridge Road
Although the suspect(s) are using various techniques to defeat the locking mechanisms, residents are asked to properly secure their sheds at all times. Additionally, residents are encouraged to take photographs of all property inside their sheds as well as to take note of any serial numbers. This information could be vital to help identify stolen items at a later date.
Lastly, residents are asked to dial 911 immediately if they see or hear anything suspicious. If anyone has any information about any of these burglaries, please contact Det. Marc Aguiar or anyone from the District Detective Unit at Western District at (410) 222-6155.
