Following a brief gathering of West Long Branch and Monmouth County officials, the traffic light at Locust Avenue and Parker Road was activated this afternoon at approximately 3 PM. This light will now accompany the reconstruction of the intersection there to allow motorists to move in a more regulated and safer fashion.

Motorists are asked to use special caution during this period of adjustment for local drivers. Put simply, especially if you are from the area, please remind yourself that there is now a traffic light that controls the intersection. Extra caution is also urged due to the proximity of the Frank Antonides School and the children who may be walking in that area. The crossing guard will still be there during her regular times (when students are coming and going from the campus when school is in session).
