STOLEN JEEP RECOVERED - 20 YEAR OLD WR MAN FACING CHARGES
*STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED*
On Sunday, June 8th, 2014, Officers from the WRPD began an investigation into the circumstances of a reported Stolen Vehicle. Based on the information gathered from the investigation, it was believed the vehicle could have been taken to an auto salvage yard. Although closed on Sunday, Officers checked on Monday and were able to determine that the Stolen Vehicle was taken to an auto salvage yard. We also discovered the vehicle is actually a Cherokee not a Grand Cherokee
Today, June 11th, a 20-year old Wisconsin Rapids man was taken into custody for his involvement in the Theft, Counterfeiting and Unlawful Possession of Certificate of Title, and for Providing False Information to Officers who were investigating the case.
Although we know people are curious, we do not provide names of suspects on our Nixle Alerts. As with all cases, a suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

ATTENTION NIXLE CRIME SOLVERS!
The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department needs your help. On June 8th, 2014, a stolen vehicle report was taken from the 300 block of 18th Ave. N. in Wisconsin Rapids.
The vehicle owner states that his Gray colored 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee was taken without his permission. He states that it was disabled, and because of flat tires but didn't know the date of the Theft. Based on witnesses, it is believed that on or around June 3rd, a person loaded the Jeep onto a flatbed wrecker type of vehicle and removed it from the property.
The WRPD is looking to locate the vehicle and the person who had it removed from the residence.
