DePaul University Graduations

Sunday, 15 June 2014, DePaul University will be conducting commencement ceremonies at the Allstate Arena, located at 6920 North Mannheim Road in Rosemont, Illinois. Three ceremonies will be conducted on Sunday starting at 8:00 am followed by ceremonies at 12:30 pm and 4:30 pm. Due to the length of the ceremonies, graduates and their guests at the 12:30 and 4:30 PM ceremonies will be arriving at the arena at the same time as guests from the previous ceremony will be departing. This will pose the unique challenge for traffic management of having both inbound and outbound traffic taking place at the same time. In addition, major roadway construction continues in the area around the arena, including Mannheim Road from Irving Park Rd to Higgins Rd and on Lee Street over the I-90 (Jane Addams Tollroad). The Public Safety Department is recommending that motorists not attending the ceremonies to delay travel in the area until after the ceremonies have started.

The Public Safety Department is strongly recommending that motorists attending the commencement ceremonies allow themselves extra travel time to the arena.

In order to minimize traffic congestion at the Allstate Arena after each commencement ceremony, the University has reserved groves at Dam #4 of the Cook County Forest Preserve District for graduates and their families to gather for professional and family photographs. The entrance to Dam #4 is located on the west side of Dee Road, south of Talcott and across from Maine South High School. Police officers will be stationed at the entrance and exit of Dam #4 to assist with directing traffic in and out of the area.

Directions to Dam #4: Touhy Avenue is north of the Allstate Arena. Take Touhy Avenue east to Talcott Avenue and turn right (South) on Talcott. Take Talcott south to Dee Road. Turn right (continue South) on Dee Road to the entrance to Dam #4 (right side). Motorists will be directed to leave Dam #4 via the Devon Avenue exit.
