Department of Corrections staff members and local law enforcement are searching for a missing state prison inmate in Rapid City.

Inmate Corey Thompson walked away from the Rapid City Minimum Unit this evening.

Thompson is a 37-year-old white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5-feet-9-inches tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds.

Thompson is currently serving concurrent 3-year sentences for grand theft and possession of a controlled substance out of Pennington County.

There are approximately 900 minimum security inmates housed across the state, including 199 assigned to the Rapid City Minimum Unit.

Instructions:

Anyone who sees Thompson or knows of his whereabouts should contact law enforcement immediately.
