TIME OF CALL: June 22, 2014 at approximately 0954 hours.
SUBJECT: Fatal Car Crash
VENUE: Lampman Lake, located on S. Brown Rd, between W. County Farm Rd. and Ruby Rd., Sidney Township.

On 06-22-2014 at approximately 9:54 A.M. Montcalm County Sheriff Deputies responded to a one car unknown accident at the above location. A passerby observed a vehicle submerged in the lake on the east side of S. Brown Road. The vehicle was approximately thirty feet off the roadway and was completely submerged in approximately six feet of water. Montcalm County Sheriff’s Dive Team located a deceased 53 year old male behind the wheel with his seat belt still on. No other occupants were inside the car.

Investigation has determined the driver failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway, struck a fallen tree and went into the lake at what appears to be a high rate of speed. According to his family the victim was last seen on the morning of 6/21/14. It is unclear when the vehicle entered the water. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Deputies continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

Assisting with the incident were Montcalm County EMS and Captain Hook Wrecker Company.

Victim: KURT ALLEN HOFFMAN, 53 OF STANTON.

HOFFMAN was a long time and well liked minister for the Trinity Church in Stanton.
