This is a test
Thursday, the City of Norfolk Public Safetywill conduct a test of the Nixle emergency notification system that supports dialing telephones for voice alerts. The test will consist of a short call to residential and business landline telephone numbers in Norfolk. The test will begin at 2 p.m.and conclude by 3 p.m.
As part of its expanding Nixle service, subscribers also can receive notice of public safety concerns on their cell phone. Along with the text message and email notifications, residents who choose this option can receive calls on their cell phone alerting them to a variety of potential issues, including threatening weather.
