1/8 acre wildland fire on Granite Dells Road contained by Payson and Tonto National Forest resources 
At approximately 1:36 pm this afternoon Payson Fire Department and Tonto National Forest firefighting resources were dispatched to a wildland fire in the area of the 1400 block of E. Granite Dells Road in Payson. The incident was quickly upgraded to a First Alarm response. The fire was burning in brush and Ponderosa Pine. Unified command was established with the Tonto National Forest and the Payson Fire Department. The forward rate of spread was stopped at approximately 1:53 pm; fire was held to approximately 1/8 of an acre as the final size.
No structures were burned; no firefighters or civilians were injured. The fire was found to be on Tonto National Forest USFS land and the cause is still under investigation.
