Suspect Surrenders to Police after Violating Court Order
On July 1, 2014 at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Los Banos Police Department responded to an apartment in the 100 Block of North Santa Rita to investigate a court order violation.
Officer Preston Jelen contacted the reporting party who stated she had a domestic violence restraining order protecting her from 28-year-old Ramiro Flores. The victim learned Flores was at her residence while she was at work with their small child and a 20-year-old male baby sitter. Officers attempted to contact Flores for approximately half an hour however he would not answer the door or telephone.
As a precaution the Department summoned the assistance of the Merced County S.W.A.T. team to assist in removing the child from the residence. As members of the S.W.A.T. team began to arrive Flores surrendered to Officers by walking out of the front door where he was taken into custody. No injuries were reported during this incident.
“Whenever we have information like this we will always take every precaution or utilize every resource in hopes that the incident will come to a peaceful resolution. We are thankful to the Merced County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance.”
- Ray Reyna, Police Commander
Flores was booked into the Los Banos Police Department Jail and is currently in custody at the Merced Main Jail, without bail, charged with violation of a domestic violence restraining order, child endangerment, and violation of his probation conditions.
