On Friday, July 4, 2014, the city of Moreno Valley will be having its annual Fourth of July Parade and Festival & Fireworks Display. At the city of Moreno Valley's request, the Moreno Valley Police Department will be closing the following streets to facilitate the parade participants from 6:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

1. Resource Way between Frederick Street and Corporate Way
2. Corporate Way between Calle San Juan De Los Lagos and Resource Way
3. Eucalyptus Avenue between Frederick Street and Heritage Way
4. Calle San Juan De Los Lagos between Frederick Street and Veterans Way
5. Veterans Way between Business Center Drive and Alessandro Boulevard
6. New Hope Drive between Veterans Way and Elsworth Street
7. Veterans Way between Cactus Avenue and Alessandro Boulevard

The following locations will be closed from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

1. Towngate Avenue between Frederick Street, Eucalyptus Avenue and Memorial Way
2. Frederick Street between Centerpoint Drive and Cactus Avenue
3. Cottonwood Avenue between Pan Am Boulevard and Dunhill Drive
4. Eucalyptus Avenue between Pan Am Boulevard and Kochi Drive
5. Dracaea Avenue between Pan Am Boulevard and Kochi Drive
6. Atlantic Circle east of Frederick Street
7. Brabham Street between Frederick Street and Andretti Street
8. Towngate Avenue between Frederick Street and Heritage Way
9. Bay Avenue between Kristina Court and Courage Street
10. Alessandro Boulevard between Chagall Court and Elsworth Street
11. Brodiaea Avenue between Joy Street, and Frederick Street
12. Heritage Way between Towngate Avenue and Town Circle.

At 1:00 PM, the city of Moreno Valley will begin its Fourth of July Festival & Fireworks Display. The Fourth of July Festival & Fireworks Display will be held at Mountain View Middle School, located at 13130 Morrison Street, Moreno Valley. This event will conclude around 9:30 PM and the Moreno Valley Police Department will be directing traffic leaving the area. For a short period of time during, and immediately following the Fourth of July Festival and Fireworks Display, the Moreno Valley Police Department will be closing various lanes and streets surrounding Mountain View Middle School and Morrison Park. These roadway and lane closures are to facilitate the egress of thousands of spectators who attended the Fourth of July and Fireworks Display. The California Highway Patrol will be closing the eastbound State Highway 60 off ramp at Nason Street from 9:15 PM to around 10:00 PM to assist the Moreno Valley Police Department with its traffic control duties. Drivers who would be utilizing the Nason Street off ramp should plan to utilize an alternate route.

The Moreno Valley Police Department recommends that parents consider appropriate clothing for themselves and their children when walking. We recommend children be supervised when outdoors and near traffic areas. For those who will be driving during these events, please allow a few extra minutes for your commute, slow down and drive safely. Most importantly, let's not forget to slow down for the handicapped and small children in our city who are harder to recognize. As we celebrate the Fourth of July, we must be mindful of the significant increase in pedestrian and vehicular traffic on our roadways, and drive accordingly.
