On Thursday, July 10, 2014, Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G) will begin a gas main replacement project on Rivervale Road and adjacent side streets. The improvement is part of the recently approved $1.22 billion Energy Strong Program. The gas main replacement project will proactively protect and strengthen the system against severe weather damage like the New Jersey experienced during Hurricane Irene and Superstorm Sandy.

The main replacement will take place on Rivervale Road between Montview Place and New Street. Gas mains will also be replaced on Collignon Way, Florence Road, Charles Court, Brian Court, Blakeney Place, New Street, and River Drive. The construction will take place Monday through Friday from approximately 7:00 a.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m. The replacement project will take approximately 4-6 weeks in total.

It is anticipated that the roadways will remain open and traffic will be alternated in each direction. However, intermittent closures may be necessary and detour routes will be posted during such closures. Local traffic will have access to houses within the construction site only. Emergency vehicles will have through access during construction hours. Motorists should expect delays in the area.
