Jefferson County 911 Communications is accepting applications for a full-time Public Safety Dispatcher position.

This position will answer 9-1-1 emergency calls for police, fire, or medical emergencies; obtain accurate, essential information to process each call according to established protocols, and use a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to enter all relevant information for dispatch. You must be able to type, multi-task, make important decisions quickly, handle incoming calls, process information promptly while under stress, operate appropriate radio channels, and operate various computer applications. The ideal candidate will be capable of taking control of emergency and non-emergency calls in an assertive yet professional manner in order to obtain information quickly and accurately. Additionally, the candidate must be able to work various shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed. Previous dispatching and/or public safety experience preferred.

Pay: $15.54 hourly.

Minimum Job Qualifications: Candidate must possess a high school diploma or GED. Candidate must possess or be able to obtain and maintain current IDACS certification from the Indiana State Police. Additionally, the candidate must be able to work variable hours. The Public Safety Dispatcher is subject to emergency call in.

The candidate must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation, have no felony convictions and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
