#Crimes_Trending for the week of 7-8-2014 to 7-14-2014

The Crime Trends:

There has been an increase of two different crime trends in two areas of 77^th Street Division over the past week. 

1^st Crime Trend:

Several street robberies have occurred involving 1 to 4 suspects at a time targeting lone victims walking on the streets between the hours of 6PM to midnight.

2^nd Crime Trend:

Suspects are stealing the catalytic converters from underneath Toyota and Honda SUV’s and “3^rd Row Seats” from GMC / Chevy SUV’s during hours of darkness. 

The Areas Most Affected:

1^st Crime Trend:

From Denker Ave to Hoover St.

& Slauson Ave. to Vernon Ave.

2nd Crime Trend:

From Van Ness Ave to Denker Ave.

& 62^nd St. to Florence Ave.

What you can do:

1^st Crime Trend:

Don’t walk alone at night or let yourself be distracted by your cell phone, MP3 player or other electronic distractions.  Be wary of individuals loitering in the area or wandering too close to you.  Don’t hesitate to call the police regarding this or any other suspicious activity, and if you do get robbed, cooperate with the suspect, try to commit details about them to memory and call 911 as soon as you are able to.

2^nd Crime Trend:

Always lock your vehicle and have all the windows rolled up, try to park your car in your driveway, car port, garage or under a bright street lamp and don’t ignore a car alarm sounding in the middle of the night.  Don’t hesitate to call the police regarding this or any other suspicious activity.
