Yesterday Deputies arrested a 34 year old Wooster man after discovering him in a vacant home removing copper plumbing.

Deputies were dispatched to the 7000 block of Cleveland Rd in Wooster Twp after a citizen reported suspicious activity. Upon arrival the deputies reported that the house appeared to be vacant yet they could hear the sounds of someone working inside.

After announcing themselves and knocking on the doors and windows of the home, the deputies made entry and searched for the suspect and source of the noise.

After conducting a search of the home deputies found the suspect was in an upstairs crawlspace. At the time of his discovery the man was wearing a “headlamp” and was in possession of pipe cutting tools.

As the investigation continued, the deputies learned that the man had pulled his vehicle into the garage and had loaded it not only with copper pipe, but also a washer and dryer and other items that could be sold as scrap metal.

Arrested was Michael C. Miller of 407 E. South St. Wooster. Miller remains in the Wayne County Jail.
