Police are investigating a two-car crash that took place at approximately 4:15 p.m. on 07/18/2014. Two cars collided in the intersection of S. Dangl Road and E. Sternberg Road.
Vehicle #1 contained three occupants (driver and two passengers). Two occupants from this vehicle were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Vehicle #2 contained two occupants (driver and one passenger). Both occupants of this vehicle were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
One of the drivers had to be extricated by fire-rescue personnel. It was a lengthy extrication process as the roof and door of the vehicle had to be removed to free the occupant.
The intersection was closed for multiple hours while a traffic crash reconstruction team worked the scene. Traffic had to be re-routed. The intersection was re-opened at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Assisting at the scene were: Fruitport Fire Department, Norton Shores Fire Department, Fruitport Police Department, Michigan State Police, ProMed Ambulance, and North Ottawa Community Hospital Ambulance.
At this time, injuries sustained in the crash are believed to be non-life-threatening.
The traffic crash is still under investigation.
