Camillus Police investigating serious motor vehicle collision involving a classic car and a motorcycle on Rt. 5 Bypass.
JULY 20, 2014 - SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION - CLASSIC CAR, MOTORCYCLE
CAMILLUS, NEW YORK - July 20, 2014 – The Camillus Police Department is investigating a serious motor vehicle collision involving a classic car and a motorcycle. This collision occurred on the Route 5 Bypass Eastbound, east of Hinsdale Road in the Town of Camillus at approximately 11:19am.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 1974 Chevy Nova operated by Richard A. Golley and a 2008 Harley Davidson Motorcycle operated by Jamie M. Murray collided on the Route 5 Bypass during an unauthorized speed contest.
The motorcycle operator, Jamie Murray was transported to Upstate Medical University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is listed in serious condition.
An 11 year old front passenger of the 1974 Chevy Nova was also transported to Upstate Medical University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is listed in fair condition.
A portion of Route 5 Eastbound was shut down for approximately 1.5 hours while the collision was being investigated.
The Camillus Police Department continues to investigate the collision. Criminal and Traffic Charges are pending. Anyone that witnessed this collision is asked to call the Camillus Police Department at (315) 487-0102.
