Funeral Procession

On Monday July 21, 2014 at 1pm, there will be a procession to bring Officer Goodell to St. Luke’s Church on Franklin Tpke in HoHoKus. The procession will enter Waldwick from Wyckoff, via Wyckoff Avenue. It will continue on Wyckoff Avenue to Hopper Avenue and turn left; continue to Franklin Turnpike in Allendale and make a right; continue to Grove Street and make a left turn; right turn onto Centre Street and a right turn onto E.Prospect Street. The procession will stop for a brief pause in front of the Public Safety Building, before making a left turn onto Franklin Turnpike and continuing to St. Luke’s Church. Visitation will begin at approximately 2pm. It is recommended that anyone wishing to view the procession should assemble in front of Waldwick High School or in the area of the Public Safety Building.

Over the past several days, we have been preparing for Officer Goodell’s services with the assistance of countless local and county agencies. The wake will be from 2pm to 9pm on Monday and the Funeral Mass will be at 11am on Tuesday, both at St. Luke's Church in HoHoKus. It is anticipated that several thousand people will be paying their respects to Officer Goodell on Monday and Tuesday. That being said, traffic and parking are going to be issues that we all need to contend with. There will be traffic delays and periodic road closures. We have arranged for Bergen Community College to be the main parking area for anyone wishing to attend the services. Buses will be available to transport people to and from St. Luke’s Church. We have made special parking and transportation accommodations for Waldwick residents only. In order to ease our transportation concerns, we are asking that everyone adhere to the plans that we have prepared.

WALDWICK RESIDENTS ONLY:
All Waldwick Residents should report to the Waldwick High School Parking Lots (both upper and lower lots). You will be transported by bus to the church to pay your respects and then the buses will return you back to the Waldwick High School staging area. Carpooling is encouraged. Walking to the church is permitted and encouraged.
This area will open at 1:45 pm and will run until 10pm on Monday and from 8am to approximately 2pm on Tuesday.

FAMILY MEMBERS:
Family members with a placard can proceed to the Southern parking lot at Saint Luke’s Church. Please display the placard in your window. If you do not have a placard you will not be permitted to enter the parking lot at the church.
You may approach from either direction on Franklin Turnpike.

UNIFORMMED PERSONNEL AND GENERAL PUBLIC:
All uniform personnel and members of the general public shall report to Bergen Community College, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ 07652, Lot A. Please proceed to the circle at the top of the parking lot to get the transportation shuttle. You will be bused to a drop off point at Saint Luke’s Church. After paying your respects, the busses will return you back to Bergen Community College. Please do not attempt to drive to Saint Luke’s Church. You will be turned away and sent to Bergen Community College.
This area will open at 1:45 pm and will run until 10 pm.
Tuesday, July 22nd, Funeral Mass begins at 11 am; everyone must be in place before 10 am:

You may approach from either direction on Franklin Turnpike.
