Over the past week the "Grandson" or "Granddaughter" scam has been making its rounds through Johnson County. The caller will advise you that a relative is incarcerated in another State and will ask you to send money or other means of compensation for their bond money. Do not fall victim to this scam. Do your homework. Contact family members to assist you when you are not certain of the facts.

In some of these cases they actually knew the names of the relatives so please use extra caution when dealing with these phone calls.

If you are talented on a computer put the incoming phone number in your computers search engine and it will usually tell you when a scam is associated with the number that is calling.

One victim in Johnson County sent $13,000.00 last week and another sent $2500.00 to this out of the United States scam. Don't add any of your hard earned money to these scam artist.
