"Sand" Fire Update and Dense Smoke Advisory for Placerville. No Imminent Fire Threat at This Time.
The Placerville Police Department would like to advise city residents that although smoke can be seen throughout the city; the smoke is being blown from several miles away from the South County area. Currently, the Sand Fire is burning East of Highway 49, 5 miles North of Plymouth. The Summerset/Mount Aukum area is most impacted by the the fire at this time. The City of Placerville is not imminently impacted by fire risk at this time. However, the city is serving as a logistical staging area to assist with support needs of the emergency response. Thus, you will see an increased presence in first responders throughout the city.
