Southern Pines Police Department:
Announces CALEA Reaccreditation
The Southern Pines Police Department has earned reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) following the department’s initial accreditation in 2011. The Department was recently recognized at the CALEA National Conference in Schaumburg, Illinois.
Certification/Reaccreditation status represents a significant professional achievement and is confirmation that the Southern Pines Police Department’s policies and practices are consistent with progressive professional standards. CALEA assessors spent several days evaluating the Department in April 2014 and examined all aspects of the Southern Pines Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services. Verification by the assessment team is a part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation, a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence.
“We are pleased to be reaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. This certification is validation that the high standards we hold our personnel to is aligned with international guidelines. This certification will help to instill greater public confidence in our agency,” said Chief Robert Temme
The CALEA Accreditation award is valid for three years, and the Department is required to maintain continuous compliance during the award period. The Southern Pines Police Department currently is the only accredited law enforcement agency in Moore County North Carolina.
