Attempted homicide and robbery being investigated simultaneously - possibly related
On Sunday, August 3, 2014, at approximately 12:26 am, the Campbell Police Department received a report of gunshots heard in the area of Campbell Avenue and Union Avenue. Upon officers’ arrival, they located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the First Bank, 790 E. Campbell Avenue.
The initial investigation leads detectives to believe that there is at least one suspect involved in the shooting. He is described as a Hispanic male in his late twenties to early thirties, 5’8” to 5’10” tall, thin build, with short dark hair, wearing a dark plaid shirt. The suspect was last seen fleeing the scene of the shooting in a dark colored sedan.
While officers were investigating the shooting, there was a report of a robbery that had just occurred in the area of Second Street and Civic Center Drive in Downtown Campbell. The suspect in that incident robbed the victim at gunpoint and was described as a Hispanic male in his twenties to thirties, approximately 5’8” tall, wearing jeans, a light colored shirt, and a jacket.
At this time, detectives are working to determine if the two separate incidents involve the same suspect. The two shooting victims were transported to a hospital and are currently undergoing emergency surgery for their injuries. The robbery victim did not sustain any injuries.
The Campbell Police Department asks that anyone with information regarding either of the two incidents contact the Campbell Police Department at 408-866-2101. Those wishing to remain anonymous may contact the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at 408-947-STOP (7867).
