Prepare for possible hurricane/tropical storm/flooding on island
Due to the weather forecast, USAG-HI is urging personal preparedness:
-Make sure your emergency kit is ready. Kits should have at least three days of supplies for every member of your family, including food, water and medications. A kit of seven days is optimal.
Emergency kits should be brought to shelters or safe havens.
-Know the locations of your nearest shelters/safe havens, but do not automatically go there during a storm. Opening times and locations will be released if an evacuation becomes necessary.
If an evacuation is ordered, proceed to the community shelter/safe haven closest to your home.
Visit www.garrison.hawaii.army.mil, click on "Staying Safe" in the left menu, and then "Emergency Management," to find resources like:
-current lists of both on-post and off-post shelters/safe havens,
-emergency kit packing list, and
-fact sheets about hurricanes, flooding and tropical storms.
Instructions:
Stay tuned to official state agencies and local media outlets for storm updates.
