National Night Out
National Night Out is designed to promote and strengthen the partnership between the community and police. National Night Out sends a message to criminals letting them know, the neighborhoods and police are united and fighting back against criminal activity.
We considered National Night Out 2014, a huge success! We were able to connect with residents we generally would not have interaction with and this provided an opportunity for positive interaction between police and the community.
“In years past we’ve held this event in the parking lot of a local store, and at a neighborhood parks. This year I wanted to take the event directly into a neighborhood to reach the youth of the community and I think that helped make the event a success.”
- Gary Brizzee, Chief of Police
The event provided residents with an opportunity to meet police, ask questions, view cutting edge law enforcement and firefighting equipment, all while enjoying food, family and community.
“A young child taught me how to play 4-square; it brought back a flood of childhood memories. This was really a great opportunity for police officers to be able to connect with the community.”
- Jason Hedden, Police Commander
