Announces Arrest for:
Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Vehicle, Discharging a Firearm within the Town of Southern Pines
The Southern Pines Police Department announces the arrest of Jamere Tyreese Monroe, 19 years of age, of Southern Pines, North Carolina for Assault with a Deadly Weapon with the Intent to Kill, Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle and Discharging a Firearm within the Town of Southern Pines. This arrest stems from an incident that occurred on August 5, 2014, in the 1400 block of U.S. Highway 1 near the intersection of Murray Hill Road. At approximately 6:47 pm on August 5, 2014, the Southern Pines Police Department responded to U.S. Highway 1 for a report of gunshots in the area, but responding officers were unable to locate any victims or evidence of gunfire. Several hours following the shots fired investigation, a vehicle owner arrived at the Southern Pines Police Department to report that a family member had been operating a vehicle that was struck by gunfire. The vehicle owner reported that the family member knew the assailant, but this family member refused to cooperate, or speak with any police officer. The vehicle owner filed the complaint in this incident. As a result of an investigation conducted by the Southern Pines Police Department’s Patrol and Investigation Divisions, Jamere Tyreese Monroe was identified as the suspect in this assault.
Jamere Tyreese Monroe appeared before a Moore County Magistrate where he was incarcerated in the Moore County Detention Center under a $750,000.00 secured bond pending a hearing in Moore County District Court on August 26, 2014.
