Flood Potential for this evening increasing for southeast Michigan.

Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 10 pm as thunderstorms develop from Flint to Kalamazoo. the line of storms is moving slowly southeastward while individual storm move northeast. Heavy rain should begin impacting Detroit area around 530 pm. Rainfall rates near 2 inches per hour have been reported near Grand Rapids and South Haven. Rainfall duration is expected to be on the order of a couple of hours with potential for total rainfall this evening around 3 inches. Some localized flooding is possible... especially in areas impacted by last weeks rain where runoff will be efficient. Additional basement flooding should also be expected.
