NEW CodeRED mobile alert app now available for I-phone users.
The City of Lansing & Ingham County upgrades CodeRED Mobile Alert app to enhance the way residents receive alerts on-the-go.
The City of Lansing & Ingham County now offers an upgraded iOS version of the CodeRED Mobile Alert app, a free app that saves lives. By downloading the app, residents will be able to receive critical, location-specific CodeRED alerts directly on their smartphone.
The CodeRED system is a high-speed emergency notification system that is used locally to alert residents of emergency situations.
The City of Lansing & Ingham County integrates their use of the CodeRED Mobile alert app with telephone calls to cell phones and landlines, text messages, emails and social media within the CodeRED community notification system as a robust and proactive communications strategy in an effort to reach residents the way they prefer and even at their exact location.
“This is an important app that allows us to communicate with our residents, and it also allows us to protect any visitors that may be traveling through our area so we can keep them safe and informed as well. The new version of the app makes it even easier,” say Emergency Management Officials.
The recently released, upgraded iOS version of the CodeRED Mobile Alert app includes exciting new features to enhance the user’s experience. The app is no longer ad supported. In addition, an app tutorial educates the user on how the app works upon sign in and app settings are redesigned, helping the user customize the app specific to the types of warnings they want to receive. Residents can download the CodeRED Mobile Alert app on the App Store℠ and current iOS CodeRED Mobile Alert app subscribers are encouraged to ensure the app is updated on their device.
App subscribers will receive alerts issued by public safety officials in the City of Lansing & Ingham County and when traveling through any community in the United States and Canada that uses the CodeRED community notification system. Emergency, community and missing person alerts are always free of charge.
An upgrade to the Android version will be released in Fall 2014.
