Arrest for Public Intoxication and Violation of Court Probation by the SRJC PD (JC 14-0000459)
On Monday, August 18, 2014 at approximately 3:30 p.m., a Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) instructor was conducting a class in Emeritus Hall when Manny Guillermo Lomas, a 40 year old Santa Rosa resident, came into the classroom. Lomas, who had a live domesticated cat draped across his shoulders, became argumentative and belligerent towards the instructor. The instructor told Lomas to leave the classroom because he was creating a disturbance. The instructor then noticed the odor of alcohol coming from Lomas. The instructor called the SRJC District Police and Lomas left the area.
SRJC District Police located Lomas on the east side of the SRJC Race Building. Lomas continued to create a disturbance, disrupting the peace of the college campus. SRJC District Police officers noticed Lomas was displaying signs of alcohol intoxication. Lomas submitted to a preliminary alcohol screening device and it was revealed he had a blood alcohol content level of .25%, more than three times the legal amount (.08%) for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol.
Lomas was arrested for public intoxication and violation of probation. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail. The cat was placed into the custody of Sonoma County Animal Control.
The Police Department would like to remind our community that the SRJC is an open campus and allows the public to use its facilities for educational and enrichment purposes. While the SRJC campuses are relatively safe environments, they are not crime free. Please help the Police Department by reporting any suspicious activity immediately at (707)527-1000.
