The Eustis Police Department has received several calls from concerned citizens regarding an incident that occurred on August 20, 2014 at the entrance to Blue Lake Estates on Orange Avenue CR 44 at Blue Water Street.

A juvenile was at the school bus stop on Orange Avenue (CR 44) and Blue Water Street (Blue Lake Estates). A white male with short slick backed blond hair and blue eyes got out of a silver four-door car near the subdivisions call box for the gate. He remained next to his silver four-door car between the car door and the seat and never approached the juvenile. The juvenile was standing at the bus stop, which is several feet away from him (10 feet according to the juvenile). The juvenile stated the male told her he had a piece of paper that belonged to her but the juvenile said she never saw the piece of paper. The juvenile stated after the male told her about the piece of paper she stated "no" and ran away toward home.
The juvenile ran home and informed her mother of the incident. The responding officer told the mother if any other incidences like this happen again or if they see the silver vehicle again to call the Eustis Police Department.
A search of the area yielded no results for the suspect or vehicle; however, we are we actively investigating all calls related to this incident as well as increasing patrols of the area. The report was shared with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Intel Unit.
At this time, the incident is documented as a suspicious incident and not an attempted kidnapping as posted on Facebook. Please be careful on what information is posted on Facebook. Ensure it is accurate and verifiable. In this incident, the message should be “Be cautious of your children's surroundings due to.. (Then note the incident). We ask parents to always keep an eye on their children and for neighbors to keep an eye on their community.
