CHP will hold Child Seat Safety Check-up event
Every year, hundreds of children are either killed or seriously injured in motor vehicle collisions. Studies have shown child safety seats can reduce fatal injury by 72% for infants and by 54% for toddlers, ages 1-4. The California Highway Patrol, and the Mattel Toy Store, will be offering a free Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Seat Check-up Event, in the city of Pomona on Saturday, August 30th, from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The California Highway Patrol will have trained certified CPS technicians/officers inspecting child seats and offering traffic safety information. The goal of this event will be to educate parents on the proper installation and use of child passenger seats. Inspections will be done by appointment only. To set up an appointment, participants must contact the CHP Southern Division office at (818) 240-8200.
