A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT TUESDAY.
* EXCESSIVE HEAT AND HUMIDITY IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH TUESDAY. THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT GIVEN ALL THE AREA EVENTS...FROM HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL AND SOCCER GAMES AND PRACTICES...TO ONGOING STATE FAIRS AND FESTIVALS.
* TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE THEIR HEAT UP WELL INTO THE 90S EACH AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK. THESE TEMPERATURES WILL COMBINE WITH HIGH HUMIDITY TO PRODUCE AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX VALUES FROM 100 TO 105 FOR MOST LOCALES. IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE ISOLATED LOCATIONS COULD SEE THE HEAT INDEX TOP 105 AT TIMES.
* THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE. TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE. WEAR LIGHTWEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS. MAKE SURE OUTSIDE PETS HAVE PLENTY OF WATER.
