On August 23, 2014 at approximately 3:31 a.m., Los Banos Police
Officers responded to the 1100 block of Hoover Avenue related to an interrupted burglary. The homeowner was sitting in the living room when he heard a noise near his laundry room. The homeowner went to investigate the source of the noise and observed the suspect holding a flashlight, looking through the residents personal belongings.
The suspect fled after being confronted by the homeowner. The homeowner told police, the suspect was last seen running south on 11th Street. Officers arrived in the area and set a perimeter to contain the suspect. The officers located 19-year-old Harvey Garcia of Watsonville as he attempted to hide from police.
The officers found Garcia’s vehicle parked in the area with David Gerritson, 21, of Gilroy sleeping inside. Gerritson was arrested for public intoxication and an outstanding arrest warrant.
The officers had reason to believe Garcia and Gerritson came to Los Banos with the intention of committing burglaries.
Garcia was arrested for burglary and booked into the Los Banos Police Department Jail Facility. Garcia remains in custody at the Los Banos Police Department in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
