Kosciusko County – On Wednesday Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter recognized Senior Trooper Brandon McBrier as the top cop for the Indiana State Police. The ceremony, which was held in Indianapolis, publicly recognized the achievements and accomplishments of several troopers from around the state.
Each year the Indiana State Police recognize one trooper in their ranks with the distinction of being presented the Trooper of the Year Award. This award is presented to the trooper who inspires others to serve in a manner that significantly exceeds expectations. The merits that are evaluated for the award include outstanding levels of traffic and criminal enforcement, case and crash investigations, public information programs, and most importantly serving the communities within the State of Indiana. “The Trooper of the Year has exemplified strength of character, a strong work ethic, and an unsurpassed level of integrity that is the embodiment of being an Indiana State Trooper,” commented Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter.
Trooper McBrier was nominated for the award by command personnel at the Bremen Post. The superintendent and his primary staff then review the nominations from all the districts and choose the recipient.
McBrier has been a member of the state police since 1999. He currently lives and works in Kosciusko County which is located in the Bremen District. In addition to his normal road duties, McBrier spends a lot of time working on the department Meth Suppression Unit and is also a Field Training Officer.
McBrier is also actively involved in his community and regularly attends the Kosciusko Communities That Care meetings. McBrier assisted in establishing the Community Cares foundation platform and its mission statement. McBrier is also very active in his church teaching Sunday school and taking time every year to run a youth camp.
“Brandon is the person and trooper that you wish all troopers would mold themselves to emulate,” commented Lieutenant Chad Larsh, commander of the Indiana State Police Bremen Post.
