SRJC Auto Theft Investigation – Vehicle Recovered
CASE IDENTIFICATION JC14-0493
On August 27, 2014 at approximately 9:30 pm, a SRJC student notified police dispatch that his vehicle was stolen while it was parked in Emeritus Parking Lot (Santa Rosa Campus). The student reported he had parked his vehicle near the northeast corner of the lot at approximately 4:00 pm and returned at 9:30 pm, following his scheduled classes. The vehicle was gone upon return and a subsequent search by officers of the entire campus and surrounding areas did not locate the student’s vehicle. Due to some mechanical issues, the vehicle ignition key was left in the vehicle ignition while it was parked in the lot.
On August 29, 2014 at approximately 10:00 am, SRJC District Police Officers were patrolling the area of Mendocino Avenue and Steele Lane. Their attention was drawn to a vehicle at the Chevron Gas Station that matched the general description of the vehicle stolen from campus. Officers ran a records check of the vehicle license plate and immediately confirmed it was the same vehicle had been reported stolen and that it was still outstanding as a stolen vehicle.
The officer requested back-up and kept the vehicle under surveillance from a distance. The two occupants of the vehicle (a male driver and female passenger) exited and walked inside the mini-mart at the Chevron Gas Station. At some point the officer lost sight of the male driver, but the female passenger was apprehended as she walked away from the gas station. A search of the area was conducted, with help from several Santa Rosa Police Department Officers, but the suspect was not located.
The female suspect gave officers a false name, but she was later identified as Jennifer Marie Zwicker, 30 years of age and that she had outstanding warrants for her arrest.
A search of Zwicker revealed a tubular glass pipe (methamphetamine pipe) and a small plastic bindle, containing a white crystalline substance (suspected methamphetamine). A presumptive drug test of the substance at the scene displayed positive results for the presence of methamphetamine.
Zwicker was booked at the Sonoma County Jail for the following charges –
11377(a) HS - Possession of controlled substance
11364.1(a) HS - Possession of drug paraphernalia
148.9(a) PC – Providing False Identification to Peace Officer
A subsequent investigation identified the driver of the stolen vehicle as Blake Lamudge. A “stop and hold” alert has been broadcast for Lamudge’s arrest and we will be seeking a warrant for his arrest.
SRJC community members are urged to keep their vehicles locked at all times while parked in our parking lots. All items should be removed from your vehicles or placed completely out of sight to help prevent vehicle thefts and theft of property from within your vehicle.
