Tornado Siren Test in Milan will be a full 3 minute test today, 9-6-14
The normal first Saturday of the month Tornado Siren System testing will take place today. There is no severe weather indicated this afternoon. We have installed a new siren at the Fire Station and have moved the Platt Road siren slightly and upgraded the electrical connections there. To insure all upgrades are perforrming according to specifications, we will be conducting a full three minute test of the system today. Preliminary testing and automated system monitoring from the Milan PD Dispatch Center indicates the system is functioning properly, however actual testing of the system is also indicated due to the upgrades. Officers will be out checking on the coverage, as it is anticipated the new siren at the Fire Station will significantly increase system coverage, especially in the central areas of the City.
