Announces Additional Arrests for:
Breaking and Entering/Burglary Incidents

On August 12, 2014, a “Property Crimes Task Force” staffed by officers from the Southern Pines Police Department, Aberdeen Police Department and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, announced the arrests of Steven Earl Taylor, 39 years of age, of Southern Pines, North Carolina, Heather Deaton Lamonds, 26 years of age of Southern Pines, North Carolina and Mychael Scott Gillis 23 years of age, of Carthage, North Carolina for the charges listed below.

These arrests were the result of a collaborative effort between the Southern Pines Police Department, the Aberdeen Police Department and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, who joined together forming a “Property Crimes Task Force” to address the connected property crime incidents occurring in Moore County.

Steven Earl Taylor was charged with the following offenses: Twenty nine (29) counts of Breaking and Entering, Twenty nine (29) counts of Conspiracy to Commit Felony Breaking and Entering, Twenty nine (29) counts of Possession of Stolen Property, Twenty nine (29) counts of Felony Larceny, Two (2) counts for Felony Probation Violation, One (1) count of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. In addition, Steven Earl Taylor has an outstanding warrant issued in the State of South Carolina for Failure to Appear for a charge of First Degree Burglary. Steven Earl Taylor appeared before a Moore County Magistrate and was incarcerated in the Moore County Detention Center under Five Million, Twenty Thousand ($5,020,000) secured bond.

Heather Christine Deaton Lamonds was charged with the following offenses: Twenty nine (29) counts of Breaking and Entering, Twenty nine (29) counts of Conspiracy to Commit Felony Breaking and Entering, Twenty nine (29) counts of Possession of Stolen Property, Twenty nine (29) counts of Felony Larceny. Heather Christine Deaton Lamonds appeared before a Moore County Magistrate and was incarcerated in the Moore County Detention Center under a Five Hundred Thousand ($500,000) secured bond.

Mychael Scott Gillis was charged with the following offenses: Two (2) counts of Felony Probation Violation. Mychael Scott Gillis appeared before a Moore County Magistrate and was incarcerated in the Moore County Detention Center under a One Hundred Thousand ($100,000) secured bond.

Following the arrests of August 12, 2014, the “Property Crimes Task Force” staffed by officers from the Southern Pines Police Department, Aberdeen Police Department and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office continued this long term investigation into unsolved residential “Breaking and Entering” incidents. As a result of this comprehensive investigation, additional charges have been filed since the August 12, 2014 arrests of Steven Earl Taylor, Heather Deaton Lamonds and Mychael Scott Gillis for crimes committed in Pinehurst, Aberdeen, Whispering Pines and Southern Pines, North Carolina.

Bond for Steven Earl Taylor is set at eight million twenty thousand dollars. Bond for Heather Deaton Lamonds is set at seven hundred fifty thousand dollars. Bond for Mychael Scott Gillis is set at three million one hundred twenty thousand dollars. All three are currently incarcerated at the Moore County Detention Facility. Other investigations remain ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.
