On 09/10/2014 just after 3:30 pm, 20 year old Javondre R. Harris was arrested in the 400 block of North Elizabeth St in Angola, Indiana by Sheriff's detectives following an investigation into an alleged violation of Indiana's Sex and Violent Offender Registry law. Harris was a registered sex offender who allegedly moved from the state of Wisconsin to Steuben County, Indiana in late August of 2014 but failed to notify the Sheriff's Office and register as a sex offender. Harris was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Steuben County Jail on one count of failure to register as a sex or violent offender, a level 6 felony. Harris remains held in the Steuben County Jail in lieu of a $3,000.00 bond. Assisting the Sheriff's Office in the investigation were the Angola Police Department and the Shawano County (WI) Sheriff's Office.
