Update 8:00 pm: the police activity/search in the area of Variel and Vanowen has ended. Topanga Area would like to thank the community for their extreme patience and understanding during this lengthy search. 

Normal activity may now resume in the area, please drive safely as the area may be congested while all residents return to their homes.

Update: The police search/perimeter in the area of Variel and Vanowen is ongoing. LAPD K-9 units are on scene. Please remain indoors and secure your pets if you live in the immediate area. 

If traveling by vehicle or on foot please avoid the area until further notice and expect delays in the surrounding areas due to the diverted traffic.

LAPD Officers are searching for a suspect and have set up a perimeter in the area of Kittridge Street to Vanowen Street and Variel Avenue to Eton Avenue.  The suspect is wanted for reckless driving.

Please avoid the area until further notice.  If you live in the area, please remain inside and lock your doors. 

If you observe anyone suspicious in that immediate area call 911.
