As storm approaches, residents asked to sign up for free emergency alerts
Maricopa, ARIZ. (September 16, 2014) The City of Maricopa Fire Department is monitoring hurricane Odile and its potential impacts on the City of Maricopa.
It is critical that residents and members of the community sign up to receive free emergency notifications. These alerts will notify the public of imminent threats the severe weather can product such as evacuations, flash flooding, road closures and detours. These messages could be life saving.
The Maricopa Fire Department issues emergency alerts directly to your cell phone. These alerts range from "Advisories" to let you know something is happening that might impact you to such as a house fire or traffic accident to "Alerts" which are an immediate call for action, like evacuations or shelter in place.
The City of Maricopa and Maricopa Police Department also utilize Nixle as their emergency notification system. The City account will advise you of road closures as Public Work issues them. The MPD Account notifies you of traffic issues, amber alerts and other law enforcement matter occurring in the city.

The Maricopa Fire Department along with the Police Department, Public Works and city staff are actively monitoring the weather areas that have potential impact on the City. In order to prepare for potential flooding and it associated hazards, Fire Department staff is proactively planning to mitigate the hazards and will communicate any emergency notification via Nixle, Facebook and Twitter.
