Portion of Premier Parkway Closing Saturday for Celebrate St. Peters Overflow Parking
Due to parking needs for Celebrate St. Peters 2014, the City of St. Peters will close Premier Parkway to through traffic on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, from Executive Centre Parkway to Truman Boulevard. This portion of Premier will be closed when Celebrate St. Peters festivities begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The road will reopen by 6 a.m. Sunday morning.
In the event of rainy weather, Premier could be closed even earlier this weekend in order to provide more paved spaces for dry weather parking. Check for the latest updates regarding Celebrate St. Peters at www.stpetersmo.net.
Celebrate St. Peters will offer music, food and drinks, carnival games and rides, vendor and craft booths, fireworks, kids’ events and more along the lake on Sept. 19-20 at 370 Lakeside Park. The park is located on Lakeside Park Drive just north of Highway 370 in St. Peters.
Public parking for Celebrate St. Peters is available both inside and outside of the park, including overflow parking on Premier Parkway south of Highway 370 on Saturday. Premier will be closed to through traffic between Executive Centre and Truman to provide an area for overflow parking. If needed, this stretch of Premier will become a one-way parking area with an entrance at Truman Boulevard and exit at the intersection of Executive Centre Parkway.
Based on experiences from past Celebrate St. Peters events, police expect heavy traffic at Highway 370 and the intersection of Lakeside Park Drive/Truman Boulevard during Celebrate St. Peters on Saturday evening. Organizers suggest that people arrive early to find a parking spot for the evening festivities. Main Stage entertainment will begin at 7 p.m., with opening act Superjam followed by special guest Powder Mill and headliner Ozark Mountain Daredevils. A fireworks display will light up the sky after Powder Mill’s set.
Free shuttle service will be available to and from parking areas inside and outside 370 Lakeside Park during Celebrate St. Peters on both Friday and Saturday. General parking and admission to the event are both free. Festivities begin on Friday at 5 p.m.
For the most convenient option for parking, people can buy Reserved Parking Passes in advance to ensure that they can park a vehicle near the Celebrate St. Peters event grounds. These passes are on sale at City Hall and the St. Peters Rec-Plex during regular business hours. A limited number are available. Reserved Parking Passes can only be purchased in advance and will not be sold at Celebrate St. Peters. The cost of a Reserved Parking Pass is $20 for St. Peters residents showing their Resident Privilege Cards and $25 for the general public. The passes are good for both Friday and Saturday at Celebrate St. Peters.
