Advisory

Improving conditions - 9/19/2014

The forecast change in wind direction has basically halted the forward advance of the King Fire, which reached as far as Hell Hole Reservoir by yesterday morning but has not grown much in our direction since then. There is active burning in the Hell Hole and French Meadows area as of this morning - several large spot fires which will likely burn together - but the fire has not grown toward the northeast in the last 24 hours, which is in stark contrast to the 10 miles it ran in a few hours on Wednesday.

So - things are looking much better in Squaw. We are monitoring this fire very carefully and are in constant communication with our State and Federal counterparts to make sure that we have an effective game plan and the resources we need in the event things change.

Again - please do not believe or participate in the rumor mill that is creating misinformation and needless anxiety. Accurate information is available from any number of reliable, responsible sources - take advantage of your ability to access that information before believing or repeating rumor.
