Favorable wind conditions continue.
As of 0600 this morning, the north end of the King Fire is in the vicinity of Hell Hole and French Meadows Reservoirs. There is active suppression effort at that location with several Type 1 helicopters doing bucket work and at least one hand crew (Truckee Hotshots) on hand. We continue to work with our State and Federal counterparts to monitor and advocate for timely, effective action to prevent any further spread to the northwest. The access into the Hell Hole area by road is good and the favorable wind conditions seems to provide an excellent opportunity to take much of the energy and momentum out of the fire.
Updates will follow when there's something new to report - we'kll be busy with the Ironman event tomorrow, but monitoring the King Fire is at the very top of our priorities, along with the special event.
