Suspect arrested after argument results in stabbing of house guest
At about 11:21 a.m. on September 20, 2014, a woman reported to CHP via cell phone that her husband had been stabbed in the face. Responding deputies found the caller and her husband (the victim) in front of a residence in the 400 block of Conestoga Road in San Dimas. They identified the suspect by name as Matthew Anderson, age 36, and indicated he was still inside the house. The suspect lived at the location; the victim and informant were house guests. The victim was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries, not believed to be life-threatening. A containment was established, and an LASD sergeant had intermittent phone contact with the suspect. He initially said he was inside the location, but later said he left on foot. Three juveniles who were inside the house emerged unharmed.
At about 1:40 p.m., after telephone negotiations with the LASD sergeant, the suspect surrendered to his mother and the sergeant near Fifth Street and Eucla Avenue in San Dimas. He was booked at San Dimas Station for assault with a deadly weapon. Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, 2014, in Pomona Superior Court. Bail was set at $30,000 for this crime. Anderson had outstanding warrants totaling $85,000. Investigators learned the victim and suspect have known each other since childhood. The weapon used was believed to be a kitchen knife.
