The SPPD is seeking the assistance of the community in identifying a vandalism suspect in the attached photographs.

On August 8, 2014, at 5:40 pm, a vandalism incident took place inside the train depot waiting room located at 135 NE Broad Street Southern Pines, NC. A male suspect was observed, and recorded on a security camera taking a fire extinguisher which was located inside the waiting room and discharging it. This male was in the company of eight other individuals who were also captured on video. The photographs of these individuals are not being released since they contain an image of a young child approximately seven years old. The additional individuals who were present are encouraged to contact the Southern Pines Police Department which potentially will reduce the probability of being charged in this incident. The waiting area of the train station sustained damage from the dry chemical powder which also triggered the fire alarm resulting in a response from the Southern Pines Fire/Rescue Department. The vandal is encouraged to surrender since more than thirty minutes of video footage has recently been secured as evidence and an arrest is probable in the very near future.

If you have information and can identify the vandalism suspect in the attached photographs, or were one of the other individuals in the company of this vandalism suspect, please contact the Southern Pines Police Department at 910-692-7031, or anonymously on our Crime Tip Line 910-693-4110.
