Update -Elkhart Police Officers Involved in Fatal Shooting
Elkhart County – The Indiana State Police are continuing their investigation into the Elkhart City Police shooting Tuesday evening in which Joseph Adam Lee, 32, was killed.
State police detectives are conducting interviews and processing evidence that was collected at the scene. An autopsy will be conducted by officials on Thursday.
State police detectives are working closely with the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office. A determination has been made that no other information related to the facts surrounding the shooting will be discussed or released at this time.
The names of the seven officers involved in the shooting will be released over the next 24 hours by the Elkhart City Police Department. As a point of clarification seven Elkhart City Police officers are on administrative leave for their involvement in the shooting. Three additional officers are continuing their normal work schedule but are being interviewed as witnesses to the incident.
No other information is available at this time. Please do not contact the Elkhart City Police Department for any comments or questions about the ongoing investigation which could take several weeks to complete.
