Deputies Arrest 2 Suspects for Thefts of Lawn Statues and Ornaments after Receiving a Tip

Narrative:
This is an update to the original press release regarding the recent increased thefts of lawn statues and ornaments. As a result of the original press release, members of the public played a key role in providing information tips in helping to solve this crime.

Thousand Oaks Police detectives received information from the public about possible suspects involved in the thefts. An investigation was conducted and the suspects were detained during the morning of September 24, 2014.

Through the investigation and a search of the suspects’ home, it was determined that Brian Nissen and Laura Guziak were involved in over 100 thefts of lawn decorations from the Thousand Oak area. A number of similar type thefts have also been reported in the cities of Camarillo and Ventura. The crimes took place in the middle of the night and the suspects were reselling the property at area swap meets.

Over 70 pieces of lawn ornaments consisting of statues, malibu lights, and other lawn decor were seized from the suspects’ residence this morning. Nissen and Guziak were also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a large amount of cash.

We are asking any residents who have had similar items stolen to contact Thousand Oaks Police Department Detective Greg Delarosa, (805) 494-8225, to try and determine if their property was recovered.

Both subjects were arrested and booked into Ventura Main Jail for grand theft, conspiracy, possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.
