October Traffic Enforcement Operation
During the month of October you will see an increase in officers patrolling the streets of Los Banos in an effort to increase driver awareness and traffic safety. The Department completed two similar month-long operations in the last 12-months and we considered both to be a success.
Part of this operation is being funded by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). This will allow the Department to deploy additional officers; achieving maximum enforcement with minimal impact on the city’s general fund budget.
“The idea behind this “zero-tolerance” traffic campaign is to get motorist to drive safely. Halloween is approaching and a number of children will be out trick-or-treating, many of them wearing dark costumes.” -Jason Hedden, Commander
We’ve received some complaints in specific areas and they will be targeted heavily, but officers will be deployed throughout the city to conduct enforcement during all hours of the day.
The Department plans on utilizing all resources available to make sure there is a positive impact while at the same time educating the public about the rules of the road.
