Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies investigating suspicious death of deceased man found in car on highway

Early this morning, Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to assist a Missouri State Highway Trooper who located an unresponsive man in a red Ford parked on the shoulder of N State Highway 13, north of Springfield. The male was identified as 62-year old Ronnie Archer of Springfield, MO who had been reported missing by his family on Sunday evening and was last seen earlier that day. Archer had recently moved from California to the southwest Missouri area.

Law enforcement officers observed a visible gunshot wound on Archer; GCSO Detectives will be attending an autopsy that has been scheduled for later this afternoon to determine an official cause of death.

GCSO Detectives are asking for the public’s help with any information they may have in relation to this investigation or if they’ve witnessed anyone near Archer’s vehicle, a red Ford Explorer SUV with California license plates. Please call the GCSO Tip Line at 417-829-6230 if you have any information.
