14A13 Preventable Crime Trends: #Venice, #Oakwood
PREVENTABLE CRIME TRENDS: Burglaries and Burglaries from Motor Vehicles
MODUS OPERANDI: Burglaries - Suspects are specifically targeting open windows to residences and cutting the window screens, reaching in and taking laptops, tablets and cell phones while residents are home. BFMV's - Suspects are looking for unlocked vehicle doors and taking anything of value. Also, Suspects are breaking windows of vehicles that have items such as laptops, cell phones, GPS units and purses/briefcases.
ALERT METHODS UTILIZED: I am handing out "You are being watched and targeted" flyers that I created. I am also updating my NW & BW groups to disseminate the information.
SAFETY TIPS: Please have community members call the Pacific Division Detective Desk at 310-482-6313 and speak with the Detective table that is handling their specific crime (i.e. Burglary Table, MAC Table, Auto Table). ALWAYS take your belongings out of your vehicle. DO NOT attempt to hide anything inside.
