Press Release--Vegetation Fire in Novato
Press Release:
Novato, CA: A vegetation fire burned 8 acres of grass and oak in the 900 block of San Antonio Road, in Northern Novato. The fire was reported at 1:30 this afternoon. The cause of the fire was a tree limb falling, striking a power line which caused the live power line to drop into dry grass, igniting the grass. Two ranch homes were threatened by the fire but no structures were damaged and there were no injuries due to the fire.
Firefighting resources from the Novato Fire District, the Marin County Fire Department, and Sonoma County fire services responded. They were assisted by two Cal Fire airtankers and one Cal Fire helicopter. The Cal Fire aircraft had just been placed back in service following a standdown for safety after a Cal Fire airtanker crashed days ago while battling a fire near Yosemite. The air attack resources are a very valuable asset in battling wildfires.
